I ordered mine before christmas and picked it up yesterday.
The PPQ is very similar to the P99 because it is based of of the same design, basically it is an improved version. So much improvements were made they needed to pull away from the P99 line and start a new. The PPQ has the same dimensions save for a few very minor points. Many(me included) were ecstatic to learn the PPQ would fit some to most of the P99's line of holsters and accessories. Also a big plus to the PPQ is that they DO utilize the P99s magazines, well at least the newer generations. The PPQ, like the P99, are chambered in .40 as well. I have saved the best for last, Walther is using the PPQ line to gain attention of customers by selling them bellow MSRP for the month of January. I picked mine up for $576 OTD, If you are interested then hurry because after this sale they start at $599 BEFORE tax and special charges!
Took my new baby out today and here is the range report
All brand ammo was 9mm 115gr FMJ
I shot 200rds of Monarch brass flawlessly. I shot these first due to me neding to fine tune the sights, but due to that I can not say how consistently accurate the ammo is. I will continue to use this brand and report back.
I shot 100rds of CCI Blazer aluminum, they were flawless in cycling and pretty accurate as well. I will also say that they were pretty clean too. I do not like the aluminum due to the fact I will not reload with them.
I shot 50rds Winchester and 50rds Remington(shurshot), they both cycled fine but not as good as the Monarch or Blazers. Also they were dirtier.
on my way home I bought 200 more Monarchs.
The trigger is light, short and faster than the rangmaster would allow me. ; (
The sights are fair enough, but I will still replace them due to this being my competition gun.
The grip is fantastic!
I miss the striker indicator on the back of the P99s, the PPQ has not even a hole for one. ; (
It has an ambidextrous slide release which makes since due to the ambi nature of the platform.
I also miss the decocker from the P99 line. ; (
In the end I will most likely not use the PPQ as a carry weapon but you never know.
